Yes, I guess we ALL have not so desirable parts to our jobs, even our favorite musicians.

Funny, when I think back to being a kid watching bands on TV during this era, I was completely oblivious to the lip-syncing. Dang, I was so gullible and naive.

Yes however, part of the job I guess..
In the Netherlands, Top of the Pops was known as 'TopPop'... And, that time, it used to be the main source on TV here, of the music charts/artists video performances, by Dutch speaking VJ's, both for the Netherlands, as for the Dutch speaking part of Belgium(Flanders)too.
So many people have so many good memories of it...!

albertarose - Yeah I had a wee chuckle at that too, re. Mike.

Top of the Pops which is where this clip is taken, was well known for miming. A few did actually perform live voice-overs to their songs, in fact L42 did a few times in the later years. But most artists just mimed to their hits. It must have been quite humiliating, but I suppose it was all just part of doing their job back then. TOTP was a very popular show indeed, so just to be on it - miming or not - was a proud moment to most bands back in the day. :)

Did anyone else find it funny to see Mike singing/miming Mark's vocal fills towards the end of the song?

I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for the band, as seriously talented musicians, to have had to lip-sync their masterpieces as part of the music promotion game.
