Oh dear, that does sound like a bit of a mess. But fair play to what he wanted to achieve. I feel sorry for anyone who’s booked flights or whatever, but you know, you’re alive, go and enjoy a general holiday!
Now, this is none of my business, but as a person looking at a ‘soap opera’, Phil and Mark need to sit down and resolve things, even if it doesn’t lead to a reunion down the line.
A very sad state of affairs indeed. :( I feel so heartily sorry for those who lost money or booked time off work etc, but not only that, for poor Wally who is such a genuinely nice fella, was doing something which was obviously close to his heart, to have it blown to bits at the last minute almost…regardless of whos to blame.
Chin up Wally! I’m sure no one blames you in the slightest and bless you for trying. Good luck with your other musical endevours. xx :)
I have booked flights, hotels and stretched a tight budget to attend this gig which was intended to be a 50th birthday surprise for my husband. I’m desparately disappointed especially as I had talked hime into going to Paris instead of going to see his very sick brother. It’s a real shame that people are unable to pout their differences behind them when not doing so means disappointing so many people.
Don’t get fooled by the apparent tone of my explanations. I just needed to put the record straight. But far from beeing ‘devastated’ by the demise of the show, I am boosted by the feedback it has been generating since. Again, live performance never was and never will be my main concern. If there is an opportunity, as there seemed to be the case, I’ll go for it. If there is none, I won’t cry. Time and energy put into the preparation of the show will never be in vain. I only feel for those who could not get refund their travel expenses, and I keep their contact so as to compensate them one way or another in the future. But again, my art is in the studio, and the studio is where I nurture my most cherished projects, not the stage. I therefore move on as a happy man, and strongly believe Mark and I will find a way to make things happen when we get a chance to discuss them thoroughly. To try to oppose the two of us is completely pointless. In Level let’s unite, not divide.
Wally, that’s the most sensible thing I have heard over the last 4 days or so !, all the best for the future……….
You are indeed a gentleman Wally and have my ultimate respect in this matter particularly.
I think we could all take a leaf from your book and learn grace in the face of adversity. Hats off to you. :)
I’ve just read Wally’s anouncement, well, what shall I say? I’ve booked the flights and the hotel and me and my wife were so happy to get the chance to see Level in Paris almost in their original lineup.
If I looked at the close contact we have to the band on this site I would expect more explanation from Mark than just saying “I’m afraid I won’t now be able to make the show …”.
As I said, I’m deeply disappointed …

It’s very sad to see that for a mutual friend, two adult men cannot put their personal argument aside for _one_ night…
