A million thanks for all the pics you guys are putting online for us all, esp for those of us back home in the UK who haven’t had our chance to see you this year – YET!
I personally have never been to places like this and it’s wonderful to be able to see the States through your eyes, so to speak.
Enjoy the last few days and have a safe journey home. Love & best wishes…xx
After many years of enjoying the music of Level 42 with the dream of seeing them in concert and thinking that we would have to travel to the UK to do it I found out they were going to be so close it was a no brainier, for us it would be a trip from Seattle to California and the use of a few sick days to make it happen what followed next was the experience of a life time…
First of all the venue was great and the people were very friendly we had mostly musicians at our table and to hear their take on the show was great! I found out how much of a fan I am, as the band walk onto the stage I got chills and then the music started all I can say is wow I had tears in my eyes like a teenage girl seeing her favorite boy band. Here is the catch I’m a 41 year old man… It was hands down the best show I have ever seen and I hope to have the chance to see them again! We had a lot of hurdles along the way but we made it. The entire time I just repeated over and over I can’t believe were here. My wife and I have listened to your music since we started dating so for us the songs have a lot of meaning…had we the experience of a life time Thank You!
Regards,
Spencer

Dearest Mark, Mike, Nathan, Pete & Sean ~
GREAT THRILL to be in the same room with you, breathing the same air, celebrating your 30th as I sang along to your energizing jazz-funk masterpieces!!! How exciting to FINALLY get to see you at last (as it was 24 years comin’ for me! My sister and I were going to see you all back in 1986 at “The Palace” in “Hollyweird”, California, but forfeited our tickets due to an earthquake that struck about 2 weeks before your performance date – she didn’t want to chance an aftershock in that old building,… so…. I never got to go see you! Boo Hoo!!! : ( …….. )
Anyway, I was blown away back in May to find out that you still toured these days, and jumped on the tickets as soon as I found out! The Grove of Anaheim is the perfect venue for you too. It was my first time there, and I was pleasantly pleased with the size/intimacy of the theater, and how close we were to you on stage. If you ever return, I’d LOVE to see you again… but might I make a few requests??? :D Can you play “Children Say”, “Fashion Fever”, “To Be With You Again”, “Dune Tune”, any one or all of your ballades, si vout plait??? Can’t get enough!
Mark, … thank you kindly for your POSE as you exited the stage.. :D ha ha ha! I guess I was too dumbstruck that you actually singled ME out in the crowd to think enough to lift my camera and take your pic! But I got a good laugh at it as you saw, (your side to me, knee bent, fingers curled on one hand interlocked with the other, all accompanied by a cheesy smile.. ha! Cute Stuff!!!) Only wish I’d hopped over the railing, run up, given you (AND Mike) a big hug & gotten your autographs… Heck,.. wish be known,.. hung out with you afterwards for a meal & a good “chin wag” about music, and get to know you all better on a personal basis! Hey.. maybe next time, huh? ;D hee!
I’m gonna get that Bass Guitarist Magazine for August and read about your playing technique .. as I watch you play in videos, it seems you’re not only slappin the string w/ the side of your thumb, but also plucking them with your pinky – interesting stuff… and considering you started out playing drums, makes sense you’d take a percussive approach to your playing bass… Speaking of which,… have you ever considered playing drums for one song or something in any of your shows? Would be cool to see & hear your style! I hope you will!
Anyhoo, .. didn’t mean to make this so long, but it’s too exciting NOT to blather on about it! It truly was GRAND seeing you in person after admiring you for so many years, and I feel so privaledged to be able to have been that close to such talented artists. Your style & skill (both at bass AND vocals), as well as that of Mike Lindup’s keyboards & vocals, are phenomenal! You guys are both KICK-ASS Musicians/Artists – SO special & unique! We’ve been blessed to have you pass through our lives dropping gems like rain upon our ears! Thank you for toughing out the traveling & touring to bring us your music! Be safe on your way back home, and I hope you’ll pass through California once again! I sincerely look forward to it! Love to you all! Great job by everyone! (Nathan, Pete & Sean – TY too! You’re not forgotten!) :D
Yours in heart,
Adrienne

I had tix to see Mark ten years ago in the U.K. but alas 9/11 happened and shuttered that trip. I bided my time until an opportunity to fly over there came round my way again. It was beginning to look like an opportunity might present itself, and THEN you announced dates over here!!!!
I finally got to see you guys live playing your “string of knackered hits!” and it was well worth the wait. This was the only concert I have ever been to where I knew all the words from curtain to curtain.
From what little I know about promoting a tour, I did some mental math on the headcount at the Grove. My estimates place your audience at about 350. Knowing the ticket prices as they were for your show there, the turnout, the cost of setting up such a show, the logistics and all, I have to conclude that you did this for the fans and the love of your craft. I personally would have paid twice the price to see you perform. L42 fans are a dedicated bunch and would surely go the extra mile (or ten) to see it all again. A tip of the hat to all of you for putting on such a great, high-energy show in a house less than half-full.
To Mark, Mike, Nathan, Pete, and Sean, thank you for including us in your 30th celebration here in the States. I look forward to seeing you guys again.
