Mark King. Singer, bassist, writer and co-founder of the band is widely regarded as one of the most prominent slap/funk bassists on the planet. He lends his time, between promotion and touring, to give an interview with Ultimate-Guitar.
Tell us about Pete Ray Biggin and how he got the gig on the new tour…
Well, Gary leaves big shoes to fill, but Pete Ray Biggin has been in training since 1992 when he joined us on-stage at a soundcheck in Leeds for the Guaranteed Tour. His parents brought him along at the age of 11 (him, not his parent’s!) and he got on Gary’s drums and let fly, so I kept his number and gave him a call as soon as he was needed, a mere eighteen years later… He is another cool dude!

FANTASTIC interview.
Yep you are right Steve. Great interview. Nice to read Pete was already in the picture and impressed Mark and Mike in 1992.
He is a cool dude! Pete is a great addition to our beloved Level 42. I was blown away by his drumming in Pittsburg.
I think Pete uses too much notes. This is typical of the young musicians. But I think that with some guidance he soon will be ok. It is a great band with great musicians. Specially Mark King.
Not quite sure what Planetmix is saying here as Level 42 has in my opinion always been a band of immense skill in all instruments and each instrument always has a time and place to shine. Mark does’nt solo thru every song if you get my point. Im sure Pete will do exactly whats needed to compliment the music and you would have to go a long way to play more notes and beats that Gary Husband, thats for sure.
great interview as well!!!!!!
it was an awesome interview and Pete is an amazing drummer as I whitnessed his playing live in LA two Saturdays ago :). And GH on his new facebook Fan page said that Pete has breathed “New Energy” into Level 42″ and he said that is always a healthy thing !! He s happy for both Pete and the band ..now how can you get a better endorsement then that ?!! :)
