Wow, has it really been 4 years since Retroglide ? What a great album that is, for me second only to ‘World Machine’ as the band’s best album. As someone who’s followed Level 42 from 1983, World Machine will always be where the band found the perfect combo of funk/pop sound. I didn’t expect too much from Retroglide but how wrong i was, and what a perfect name for an album when you listen to it – a modern throwback ! Been listening to World Machine today in prep for my trip to Cambridge on the 18th, still a truly great album. I remember ‘Something About You’ hitting the charts and singing it in chemistry class at school. It was the first time i’d actually listened to a song and taken in the lyrics as opposed to just the sound. And what superb lyrics they were – ‘But making mistakes, is a part of life’s imperfection’ – magnificent. Can’t wait to see the band again in a month or so, never miss a tour, great band, great gigs !
