Level 42’s Mike Lindup chats to O2 Academy about what it was like to strip back their songs for their recent acoustic album and shares his thoughts on studio recording in the 80s compared to now.

In 1990 Mark King asked me to come up to his Summerhouse Recording Studio in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight in England, to take photographs of Level 42 recording their “Guaranteed” Album. A great experience and I had the pleasure of watching guitarist Alan Holdsworth in action. Time to put the cameras down and watch a master.

LEVEL 42 frontman Mark King opened the new flagship Earl Mountbatten Hospice shop in Newport on 30th June 2012.
The modern premises provide almost 5,000 sq ft of retail space over two floors — twice the size of the old shops — and will slash running costs by around a third.
Mark King pops into Topping in the Morning to officially announce the Garden Party. IWradios very own Glyn Taylor was also in to talk about the planning that was put in, and to talk about the very worthy cause the day is in aid of.
Woohoo! The band is going home to play the Isle of Wight Radio Jubilee Party on June 4th in the grounds of Northwood House at Cowes on the Isle of Wight in aid of Beaulieu House.
